The Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme ceased operation in Victoria on 31 December 2021.
For the most up to date safety screening requirements please visit the Safety Screening Policy for funded organisations on the Funded Agency Channel.
While the Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme has ceased, the following complaints and safety screening processes remain in place to ensure the safety and rights of people with disability are maintained.
Reporting notifiable conduct
All disability service providers and registered NDIS providers, regardless of funding source, must continue to report any notifiable conduct to the Victorian Disability Worker Commission.
Making a complaint about a disability worker
In addition to receiving reports of notifiable conduct, the Victorian Disability Worker Commission can also receive complaints about any disability worker in Victoria from disability providers, staff and the general public.
Safety Screening and registered NDIS providers
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening started in Victoria and other states and territories on 1 February 2021.
For more information on the NDIS worker screening check, see the Victorian NDIS check website.
For more information about NDIS worker screening, see the NDIS Quality and Safety Commission website.
Safety Screening for state funded disability providers
All state funded disability services must also continue to adhere to the requirements of the Safety Screening Policy.
