Emergency preparedness forums

We host annual forums where service providers can get practical advice, guidance and resources on how to prepare for an emergency.

Effective emergency management planning strengthens resilience by ensuring agencies are prepared for major emergencies. This enables fast, coordinated responses that reduce harm and accelerate recovery.

The latest Emergency Management Preparedness and Engagement forum took place on Wednesday 1 October. The forum was attended by representatives from the social services sector including agencies funded or regulated by the department.

Topics at the forum included:

  • call to action for high-risk weather season preparedness delivered live by Tim Wiebusch, Emergency Management Commissioner.
  • chat with psychologists from our Emergency Management Psychosocial Services Panel. They will explore the mental load for agency staff in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies.
  • case study in emergency preparedness: an agency perspective on undertaking emergency management planning.
